Fiji to Host Global Leaders for Currency and Payments Summit
Currency Research will host the inaugural Island Nations Currency & Payments Summit, 26-28 October 2026, at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort on Denarau Island. Co-hosted by the Reserve Bank of Fiji, this first-of-its-kind event will welcome an international delegation to address the distinct currency- and payment-system related challenges faced by the world's island nations.
The Summit is a forum designed specifically for senior-level representatives from the public and private sectors – from central banks and financial market infrastructures to payment service providers, telecoms, and banknote suppliers – and, as such, will explore solutions to issues felt most acutely by island economies:
- Ensuring the resilience of critical infrastructure;
- Addressing cost and access barriers around cross-border payments and remittances;
- The emerging role of tokenisation and digital assets; Fraud mitigation, consumer protection, and digital literacy;
- Cash's role in expanding financial inclusion and preserving privacy;
- Green finance, long-term sustainability, and climate preparedness.
