Building on a Legacy for the New Generation of Professionals in Cash & Payments

Currency Research was the first organisation in the cash sector to create platforms for knowledge sharing through conferences, hosting the first – the Currency Conference – in 1992. The founder, and for just over 30 years the owner and manager of the business, was Richard Haycock who, two years ago passed the baton to Jens Seidl, now Chief Executive, and Shaun Ferrari, now Chief Commercial Officer.

Currency News™ spoke to Jens about the roots of the business and the plans that he, Shaun and the team have for building on the company's legacy as it enters a new chapter of leadership.

Q: What is your background in the industry, and how did you come to join Currency Research (CR)?

A: I was born and raised near Frankfurt in Germany, and I live there now. Professionally, I spent 27 years in the foreign exchange sector, starting with Thomas Cook and later moving to Travelex. My career began during the era of travellers' cheques and I worked across a variety of areas, including prepaid cards, wholesale foreign exchange, cash processing and logistics, and payment services. I had one foot in the cash world and one foot in the digital payments world.
