The Coin Conference 2026 Heads to Budapest

The programme has now been announced for The Coin Conference 2026, which takes place in Budapest, Hungary, from 28-30 September 2026.

The Coin Conference is the only event to focus on circulating coins as part of treasury and central bank cash and payment strategies. This includes design, security and cost-effective production, as well as handling, distribution and management in circulation.

Two pre-conference workshops will open the event.

The first workshop, titled ‘Designing Optimal Cash Structure: Reasons, Rules and Recommendations for Better Decisions’ will be limited to national authorities (central banks and issuing authorities) only. It will explore the key concerns decision makers encounter when launching a new coin, a new banknote, or redesigning the denomination mix – and it will be led by Dieter Merkle, formerly of ANDRITZ Schuler Pressen and the International Currency Association (ICA), supported by coin experts of the IMD-TC and ICA members.
