US Currency Education at Banco de la Nación Argentina

Last month, the Federal Reserve held a private event in Buenos Aires, Argentina, as part of its US Currency Education Program. The event was held on the premises of the Banco de la Nación Argentina (BNA), a state-owned commercial bank serving both business and private citizens.

The principal aim of the seminar was to familiarise Argentinian bank executives with how to distinguish counterfeit banknotes from genuine ones. Another objective was to update the audience on counterfeiting trends and statistics as well as US efforts to curb illicit activity with respect to US currency globally, and specifically, in the Latin American region.

Attendees were representatives from the host bank as well as other local government and private organisations who handle US currency on a regular basis.
