CurrenSEA: Strengthening Regional Cooperation in Cash
CurrenSEA (the Currency Conference of Southeast Asia), which is being hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), takes place in Kuala Lumpur from 23–26 November. The event serves as a strategic gathering for regional central banks and monetary authorities, bringing together members of the Regional Currency Director's Forum to address shared challenges in currency management, foster regional cooperation, and strengthen the resilience and efficiency of modern currency ecosystems.
The three days of plenary sessions and discussions each have their own theme – Technology on the first day, Landscape and Resilience on the second, and Sustainability on the third. The fourth day, 26 November, is dedicated to visits to the Malaysia Mint and BNM's Automated Cash Centre (ACC).
The organisers are expecting around 150 participants from 20+ central banks in the region, along with technology experts and other currency stakeholders. Some of those central banks are on the agenda, including – along with BNM – Bank Indonesia, Bank of Thailand, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and Central Bank of Myanmar.
