IOTA to Host OVD Workshop at Banknote Conference

As part of the pre-event agenda for Currency Research’s 2026 Banknote Conference in Washington DC (11-14 May 2026), the International Optical Technologies Association (IOTA) will host an in-depth workshop entitled Dynamic Security: The Science and Application of OVDs in Currency.

This 90 minute workshop will provide a thorough technical review of recent developments in optically variable devices (OVDs) used in banknote security, with attendees gaining a comprehensive understanding of OVDs and their role within multi-level security frameworks.

Topics will include:

• Advancements in material science
• Micro- and nano-structuring techniques
• Integration of OVDs into substrate and print processes
• Novel optical effects engineered for high resistance to counterfeiting, and more.

Intended for conference delegates working in banknote design, specification, authentication, and manufacture, this workshop is free with your 2026 Banknote Conference registration. Space is limited, however, so pre-registration is required.
